"Excellent care from staff and support"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Intensive Care Unit University Hospital Hairmyres / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 12)

(as a relative),

My father was admitted via ED with severe breathing difficulties, he was given full work up and everything checked promptly, he was transferred to ward 1 (HDU) and was in ward 1 for around 3 weeks where the care he received was excellent.

The staff were so friendly kind and in particular Paul the ward manager (I think) who kept us updated, Tom who is just a caring kind and exceptional guy who also is a amazing guitarist, and all the staff as nothing was a bother.

We were made as a family to feel welcome and supported.

My father was then transferred to ward 12 in which again the staff are fantastic Wullie who was always cheerful and kind and all the staff within ward 12 who provided excellent care, my father got home after 4 weeks in hospital.

Thank you to all the porters, hostess staff and domestic staff for all there kindness towards us as a family it meant more than you know.

Warmest wishes to you all.

Dear Jmcmil1954

Thank you for sharing your lovely feedback regarding the care your father received from the emergency department, Ward 1 and ward 12. It is lovely to read such personal feedback and even learn that we have an amazing guitarist in Tam.

Your comments will be shared with the staff you have mentioned as well as the wider teams. It is thoughtful of you to recognise all staff involved in delivering care as it certainly is a team approach.

I am pleased to read that as a family you felt welcomed and supported as it is such a worrying time when a loved one is so unwell. I hope that your father is continuing well on his journey of recovery and thank you again for your kind words.

Best wishes to you all

Lise
