"Waiting for plastic surgeon"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Burns and Plastic Surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

I arrived for my child's appt at PTU for 1.30pm. On arrival the lovely nurse informed us that the plastic surgeon was at the adult's hospital but wouldn't be long. She suggested we went for coffee and they would call us soon.

After waiting 1 hr 45 minutes, the nurse decided to go ahead and look at my son's burn and start to clean it up while we waiting on the doc to arrive.

The Surgeon arrived 2.5 hrs late and then stood talking to us for at most 1 minute in the waiting room. Actually, they had to and ask the nurse what she advised us. She told them and they just agreed. That was it. We waited 2.5 hrs to be told what the nurse had already explained after she took care of my son's burn.

The nurse was extremely helpful and really took care of my son, settling his nerves and making him feel comfortable before she cleaned his burn, which was very painful. I would like to ensure Lydia is told that her help was very much appreciated.

Myself and my husband had to take time off work to be there. I totally understand that they are probably busy, but why give us an appt time if we have to wait so long?
