"She immediately put him at ease"

About: Children and Young People Services / Child and Adolescent Mental Services

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was very apprehensive about counselling. Larissa immediately put him at ease. Without any pressure or demand, she was able to establish what the problems are and in his words, she really see him and gets it.

In the first session we were able to cone away with several practical coping strategies that are not just managing anxiety, but reducing the chance of it happening next time he is in a similar situation.

He is no longer apprehensive about going and is happy to communicate with Larissa without asking me (mother) to explain things.

This in itself is a big step for him. I am very optimistic about what he will gain from these sessions.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience.

I am delighted to hear that your son was put at ease and no longer feels apprehensive about attending CAMHS. It is so important for children to feel understood. I am glad that you have found the strategies Larissa suggested helpful.

I will share your feedback with Larissa and with the wider team.
