To whom it may concern.
As we all know the funding for bus passes was stopped recently. At the time all the Structured Day Programme members were informed to make their own way to the SDP.
Most of the peers managed to sort alternative travel to the program. However one peer in particular, stated in front of all their peers that they could not afford the monthly bus fares, so looks like they would be back on it. No support, no hope!!
We were informed in June that sadly they ended back on their addiction and unfortunately ended up losing their life.
We as peers do believe this could have been prevented if the funding was still available. Thanks.

Thank you for sharing this vital feedback on our service. I am the Care Group Director responsible for our alcohol and drug services in Doncaster and have worked with colleagues to understand the situation and allow me to provide an accurate response to your feedback.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of our former service user. We cannot comment on our former patient's care publicly due to patient confidentiality. We understand that a local decision to change access to bus passes had been made that affected a number of patients attending our Structured Day Programme. I have worked with the local management at Aspire to ensure that bus passes are available where people need them to support attending any of our groups or sessions at the service, in line with the Trust's commitment to poverty proofing all our services.
