I was invited into the amazing ABC (active birthing centre) in the RVH Belfast after my waters broke naturally on the induction ward and my labour was progressing quickly.

I was looked after by the amazing midwife Clare who made me feel so empowered, safe and cared for. Clare’s easy going and calm nature really changed my whole view on giving birth (this was my second time and the first time wasn’t very pleasant with lots of interventions which made me quite anxious).

My experience of staff from midwives, consultants (especially Sammy), health care assistants and everyone in between and the services offered with both pregnancies and births from start to finish has been incredible and I couldn’t fault in the slightest.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am delighted that you had such a positive birth experience within the Active Birth Centre and I will ensure your kind words are shared with Clare and the ABC team.

The Active Birth Centre is an alongside Midwifery Led Unit specialising in providing care which supports women to birth with minimal intervention, helping to facilitate spontaneous vaginal birth. I am so glad that this was your experience and that Clare was able work alongside you, providing the calming reassurance and support you needed to birth your baby and that this in turn, was able to change your view on giving birth.

I hope you are thriving at home with your newborn and should you require Maternity Services again in the future that you would chose to come to the ABC.
