"Me and my depression"

About: Older People's Mental Health / North Perthshire Older People's Community Mental Health Team

(as the patient),

12 weeks ago I was introduced to an idea to change and eventually  control my anxiety and depression  which I  honestly gave little chance of success

My two nurses Sheila and Amanda were absolutely brilliant they with a lot of effort and commitment to my well being and mood they managed to make me engage  with the program  through there guidance I started to fill out schedule sheets and plans for my week until we met again when they with me involved checked to gauge my level of success on no occasion were the negative  they focused on the positive   and helped me understand what I was involved in and that only I could make it work(not true, they with their attitude and skill made me want to succeed)

They helped me by introducing my own problem solving  and controlling ruminating so to keep a clear path and stay positive  even on a regular visit to my GP we discussed what had been happening and she commented that she could see a clear improvement

I could not have been easy for Sheila and Amanda  but want to thank them for there determination and support  for me to be successful   using the program

I am not cured but now have some weapons to fight back

 Thankyou all for your help

Thank you for taking the time to inform us of your experience.

I'm delighted to hear that your experience has been a positive one and that you have found working alongside Amanda and Sheila to be beneficial in helping manage your wellbeing.

I hope that the knowledge and skills that have been shared with you, continue to provide ongoing benefit and that you continue to utilise them in managing your health and wellbeing. It's lovely to hear that your GP commented seeing an improvement in yourself, and I hope this provides you with further encouragement to utilise these skills and knowledge.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I will ensure that this is shared with both Amanda and Sheila

Kind Regards,

Craig Lewis,

Senior Charge Nurse
