"My birthing experience"

About: Peterhead Community Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

Two months back, we welcomed our baby boy at the Peterhead Community Maternity Unit.

As I wished, I found myself in the moonlight suite and was able to experience a water birth. We received excellent care. I felt lucky to get undivided attention from the amazing staff at Peterhead, as we were the only family there that evening. The team was invested in my well-being and the well-being of my baby, while also ensuring that the birthing partner felt included.

Post-delivery, the midwives were patient and assisted me in initiating breastfeeding, and even once I returned home, I could reach out to them for support if I had any uncertainties. Our baby is now two months old, and I am still breastfeeding exclusively. I would like to especially thank the wonderful midwives Heather and Leanne, who ensured I felt comfortable and cared for. I felt truly supported.

This was our first child, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have had him at Peterhead Maternity Unit.

Hi April17,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your beautiful birth story and kind words about your experience at the Peterhead Community Maternity Unit.

We’re absolutely delighted to hear that your time in the Moonlight Suite was everything you had hoped for, and that you were able to have the water birth you wished for. It’s heartening to know that our team, especially Heather and Leanne, made you feel supported, cared for, and included throughout such a special moment in your life. I will ensure this lovely message is passed on to them both.

Your feedback means a great deal to us. We strive to provide personalised, compassionate care, and it’s wonderful to hear that you felt this during your stay and even after returning home. Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy, and we’re so pleased to hear that breastfeeding is going well two months on.

Wishing you and your family continued happiness and precious moments together.

Warmest regards,

Chloe
