This was my third pregnancy but the first time I have experienced the Continuity programme. I absolutely loved this initiative. I felt so comfortable with my midwife Julia (Downe Hospital) and she was an absolute godsend. The fact that I knew which midwife I was seeing and could build a rapport and not have to explain my history/concerns/reservations every appointment was great.
Julia is on the ball and a wonderful midwife. She added value, reassurance and support to this pregnancy. I have experienced pregnancy during COVID and a second where I had my appointments in a different hospital with different midwives every time and this experience was by far my best.
Julia kept in touch regularly, was prompt at sharing test results/information and was always only a text or phone call away no matter the date or time. Julia even came to visit me in the hospital after I'd given birth which I thought was a really personal touch.
She was my midwife postpartum as well and I think it speaks volumes that I was actually a little bit disappointed when I was passed on to my health visitor as I just trusted Julia so much.
I'll just reiterate that this is such a brilliant programme and the reassurance it gave me during a time when you are extremely vulnerable was invaluable!!
