"Great hospital and B9 ward compassionate patient…"

Review of Midland Metropolitan University Hospital – Ward B9

My mother has been diagnosed with liver cancer and, due to her age, is not receiving any further treatment. She is currently being cared for in Ward B9 as we await a Macmillan Cancer Support care package before her discharge.

Yesterday, my mum asked to explore more of the hospital, so I took her on a short wheelchair tour. She truly appreciated the peaceful fifth floor and the beautiful spiritual center. We also visited the ground floor, the canal behind the hospital, and the common area. She was genuinely uplifted by how thoughtfully designed and welcoming the hospital environment is—far from cold or clinical.

The care my mum has received on Ward B9 has been exceptional. The staff, especially the consultant, have treated her with compassion, dignity, and professionalism at every stage. Having worked in partnership with the NHS for over 30 years, I have seen many care settings, and I can honestly say the standard here is truly outstanding.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone on Ward B9. You have made a very difficult time easier for my mother and our family, and that means the world to us.
