I had a planned C-Section for 41 weeks if I didn’t go into spontaneous labour before then as I wanted to avoid an induction.
I had my pre-op appointment the day before and I had been having some contractions/niggles and started to feel some anxiety that I may go into spontaneous labour before my c-section.
Although I had wanted a spontaneous labour, I started to get scared about it and had made peace with the idea that I was probably going to have a c-section as I was almost a full week overdue.
I met a lovely lady called Mary at my pre-op. Our appointment was at DOU, lovely hypno-birthing room. She was an angel She made me feel so confident and comfortable, told me to go enjoy our definite last full day as a couple, have a nice lunch, make peace with the fact my baby will be due the next day one way or another.
She gave me some lavender oil and a big hug and it really settled me.
Fast forward to the evening, contractions came thick and fast and I never made it to the planned c-section. My little man came on his own spontaneously, as if always planned that way.
Mary, you’re a superstar! My body probably did what it had to do because I finally relaxed!!
