"Incredibly efficient, professional service"

About: Western General Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit Western General Hospital / Radiology

(as a parent/guardian),

Appointment made via 111 for my daughter who had sprained her ankle. Greeted by friendly reception staff. Seen at the appointment time by an excellent senior nurse who examined and obtained a good history of the injury and other health issues. She then sent us for an x-ray where we were seen promptly by excellent radiographers and back to minor injuries. Luckily no break so fitted with crutches and given aftercare instructions for sprain. Incredibly efficient, professional service. We were very impressed.

One negative was that there is currently work on the unit and the signage hadn't been changed on the external building. I dropped her at the entrance the sign said and went to park the car (unfortunately off site as no spaces). We then had to walk back outside to the old A&E entrance which was not easy as no wheelchairs and she couldn't put any weight on her foot. As this is extensive work, could they cover the old sign with a temporary sign so people know to access via old A&E entrance?

Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review, it is greatly appreciated and I will feedback to the radiography team about your positive experience in our department.

I will follow up about the signage and see if there is anything I can do from my side- I can imagine that couldn't have been easy trying to find the correct place for her to get to without being able to walk properly. Thank you again for this encouraging review. Hope your daughter's ankle heals quickly. Best wishes, Tanya

Thanks so much for your kind words; I am pleased that you and your daughter had such a positive experience whilst under the care of our minor injuries team and our colleagues in radiology.

I wish her well in her recovery.

I will look into the signage issue you mention and see where we can make improvements.

thanks once again

Louise
