"Treatment of patient during routine x ray"

Late morning, porters took me from ward 10 A orthopaedics down to the xray dept.

The xray staff took over, wheeling the trolley into the xray room. The staff member couldn't have been concentrating because they missed the doorway(!) and the trolley slammed at some speed right into the wall, some 4 inches from the doorway. It juddered and I got quite a jolt.

No one said anything.

Inside the room they couldn't decide how to move me on to the xray table. I had had a revision hip replacement and couldn't move the affected leg at all by myself.

So someone pushed. They pushed my operated-on hip, pushing on the big dressing on my hip and shovelled me on to the xray table/trolley

It was so sore than I shouted out with pain.

One of the staff apologised and said I shouldn't have been touched, just the sheet.

The x rays were done. Someone asked me how the ward staff had got me on the trolley. I said I couldn't remember- I really wasn't feeling good.

So, another member of staff was called over and 3 or 4 people started to move me on to the trolley. The pain was awful and I cried out in pain. I glanced at my hip and saw the member of staff had grabbed the sheet in his hand, but they were using their fists to shovel me over, again pushing on my dressed wound. And it was a hard push.

I was really sore and awfully upset.

I have never been shovelled around like that - pushing on my dressed wound too.

Again, the same member of staff apologised for what had happened,  again saying there would be a discussion about it.

I am in my 70's and of average hight and weight.

It should not have been so hard to move me on and off a trolley. I'm sure there are training procedures in place for that, but these 2  staff members seemed totally unaware of what to do, didnt ask and really didn't seem to care much. 

Who, with even a shred of common sense, pushes hard directly on a recently dressed wound ??,

I can't remember these 4 people giving me their names, and as they flitted around above me, I couldn't make out their name badges,

Also, I was in so much pain I was concentrating more on what they were doing than who was doing it

When I got back to the ward I had to ask for break-through pain reliief. 

Uncaring, unprofessional treatment from those in radiology.
