Review of Imaging Department – Sunday 15th June 2025, 5:15pm

I attended the imaging department on Sunday evening with a crippling, long-standing phobia of medical environments and procedures. From the moment I arrived, my anxiety was overwhelming — I was visibly distressed, shaking, tearful, and fighting the urge to flee.

Despite this, I was swiftly and seamlessly guided through the process with outstanding compassion, sensitivity, and professionalism. The care I received was exemplary from the very first moment I was called in. One member of staff supported me gently through gowning and cannulation, offering calm reassurance at every step. In the scanning suite, the radiographer demonstrated exceptional kindness, patience, and skill.

When I froze upon seeing the scanner — overcome with fear — it was only her calm, measured, and deeply compassionate approach that helped me stay grounded. Her words and presence gave me the strength to remain compliant and see the procedure through. By the time we reached the second series of scans, I was more at ease than I ever thought possible.

I had previously shared written guidance with the hospital explaining my difficulties with medical treatment. Whether or not this was seen, I could not have been treated with more care, dignity, or humanity.

I extend my sincere thanks to the entire team. Their understanding and outstanding approach made an incredibly difficult experience not only bearable, but unexpectedly reassuring.
