"Feeling lost, worried and scared"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Dermatology Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

I noticed a red area on my lower back last year. I went to my GP who referred me to dermatology. I received a letter asking me to attend clinical photography at PRI. I went along and got some photographs taken of my back.

Within a few weeks my GP called and asked if I had heard from dermatology. I had not. They told me I'd been diagnosed with basal cell cancer and was to start some topical chemotherapy cream. As a relatively young person with a young family, this came as quite a shock.

There was no follow up or communication from dermatology, so the GP had to write back and request follow up. I have carried out the treatment and the area on my back looks no different. I am on a routine waiting list, which I've been told is 50 weeks.

I'm feeling lost, worried and scared that the treatment has not worked and no one at dermatology seems to care. It has now been over 6 months and I've still had no communication from dermatology about this lesion that is still there. It's not good enough.
