"My basic care needs were not met"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I was admitted to ward 8 from the acute assessment ward due to an infection. My basic care needs were not met. Some of the staff were rude to me. I was left sitting in a chair until midnight before being supported into bed.  I was advised to not go to the toilet during the night but to just wet myself with a pad. I could not get in and out of bed independently. I was not supported to move often, which resulted in me having a stage 1 bedsores and also urine burns on my skin.
