"excellent care"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

I was a stroke victim admitted to the stroke emergency unit then the Twyford ward. I felt I was in competent hands and was treated with as care, dignity and compassion. The staff dealt with me as a competent adult which was very important to me. The staff were always prepared to help. For example, The stroke practitioner, after initial assessment was completed, took upon herself to take up to the CT scanner and then to the ward in a wheel chair. Another example was that there was a glitch with delivery of my meals after a bed move, one of the ward staff took it on herself to go to the kitchen, sort out the problem and bring me back a meal.

I am profoundly deaf but the staff throughout were patient and made sure I got the message they were trying to deliver. I have nothing but praise for the staff in the emergency admission, Twyford ward and the technicians who operated the CT and ultrasound scans.
