"Poor basic communication"

About: Maternity care / Maternity assessment unit

We had a very positive experience with the maternity ward and delivery suite, however, the Assessment Unit in Daisy Hill we have found to be utterly shambolic, both before and after the birth.

Each time when we have been requested to come in for repeat bloods no one knows who you are / what you are in for and then they request a doctor to confirm what is required. A process that should take 15-30 mins has ended up taking over 3 hours on each occasion.

For a heavily pregnant woman or someone breast feeding, this is additional stress and is completely avoidable with some basic communication.
