When I originally contacted the school nursing team it was for them to do a GDA assessment for my son, who I had removed from school education due to him struggling. Unfortunately, due to the delay in receiving the service from the team, by the time of their first visit (8 months) I had decided to go down the right to choose pathway from the help of our GP.
When Terri-Ann first came out I explained all the struggles from the beginning and apologised that her time may have been wasted. She reassured me that she could do other things to help my child and that the time was not wasted.
When Terri-Ann first came out my child would not engage, would not even look at her or uncover his face. Over the sessions and visits this changed and his flourishing day by day. I am so thankful for Terri-Ann’s commitment and effort that she put in. It really is appreciated and she could have just walked away.
