"Impressed!"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

I attended the Orthoptics clinic today at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital after being referred by a high street optician. I was told by the optician that I’d have to wait 6 months for an appointment, but I was offered one the week after referral, which impressed me!

At the clinic, the Orthoptist I saw was brilliant. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and put me at ease. He also had the patience to explain what he was going to do and answer all of my questions thoroughly and in language I would understand, which I really appreciate as an autistic person who likes to know the details.

I had some pictures taken of my eyes afterwards and that was also a pleasant experience.

The staff I saw in the Orthoptics and Ophthalmic Imaging departments made my appointment run smoothly, and relieved any anxiety I had about attending the department. Thank you all!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about your positive experiences of care by our Orthoptics team. We are really pleased to read that staff took the time to explain what they were going to do in a clear way and answer any questions you had so you knew the details of what would happen before this took place, so you could feel well-prepared for this. We are glad to read that all staff were helpful and that your appointment ran smoothly, and that you came away from the appointment feeling so positive.

Thank you again for sharing such lovely comments; we have shared these with the team.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best with any ongoing care or treatment.
