I attended the Orthoptics clinic today at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital after being referred by a high street optician. I was told by the optician that I’d have to wait 6 months for an appointment, but I was offered one the week after referral, which impressed me!
At the clinic, the Orthoptist I saw was brilliant. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and put me at ease. He also had the patience to explain what he was going to do and answer all of my questions thoroughly and in language I would understand, which I really appreciate as an autistic person who likes to know the details.
I had some pictures taken of my eyes afterwards and that was also a pleasant experience.
The staff I saw in the Orthoptics and Ophthalmic Imaging departments made my appointment run smoothly, and relieved any anxiety I had about attending the department. Thank you all!
"Impressed!"
