"Eye-opening - angels on earth"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My dad was taken to UHW A&E late at night with breathing difficulties. He waited outside in an ambulance from 23.30 to 07.20 as there was no beds.

However, the paramedics who were with him all night looked after him so well and were so kind and attentive.

Once in the dept, he received excellent, first class, person centred care. Everyone from the porters to the consultants and all the in between looked after him with so much care.

Watching the medical staff and reception staff was eye opening - how much pressure these guys are under is unreal. They are all angels on earth and we cannot thank them enough for the care and attention they gave my dad. Thank you!

Hi Pat's Daughter,

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's recent ill health. That must have been a very scary experience for you both. I hope that he is on the mend now.

I'm sure that my colleagues at UHW A&E will respond to your kind words about their staff in due course but I wanted to pass on my thanks on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service for your positive feedback about the paramedic staff that looked after your dad. I'm really pleased to hear that he was well looked after and that you found them kind and attentive. This is the care that we strive to provide.

Once again wishing you and your dad all the best and thanks for your feedback.

Kind wishes,

Marie

Dear Pats daughter,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your recent experience. I am sorry to hear that your dad had an exceptionally long wait in an ambulance, this is not the standard of care that we want to provide to our patients. Despite this, I am happy to hear that the care he received was excellent and I will be delighted to share your lovely comments with our staff.

I hope your dad is recovering well.

Best wishes,

Julie.
