"going above and beyond"

About: Mater Hospital / Macular Unit

(as the patient),

During my visit in June, I’m pleased to say that I had a really first class experience.

All staff were so pleasant, especially Peter who was so kind and reassuring and even provided teas to myself and my husband as my appointment had lasted longer than expected.

The reason for the extended time was due to the care shown by the consultant, Mr Gupta.

He took a very keen interest in my eye condition and upon seeing the extent of my cataracts, immediately set the wheels in motion to get me booked in for surgery to have them removed at the earliest possible opportunity.

I required a small procedure to be carried out but it was at the end of the working day for the staff but he and two of his staff were prepared to voluntarily stay behind and see the necessary procedure to be done and so avoid us having to make a return visit.

I am extremely grateful to him, Peter and the other nurse whose name I didn’t catch unfortunately, for staying on and going above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you.

We award 10/10 for everyone’s care and professionalism during the visit.
