"Care and play therapy"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a service user),

My daughter was admitted on to Caroline Thorpe ward after being sent to hospital by the GP. Everyone was kind and caring and attentive. The Doctor, Stuart explained everything and nurse Becky was so kind.

When my daughter had to have a blood test Fran the play therapist was brilliant at distracting her.

Amazing care and support we can’t thank you enough.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience on Caroline Thorpe Ward. We’re so pleased to hear that your daughter received such compassionate and attentive care during her stay.

It’s heartening to know that Stuart, Becky, and Fran were able to make a positive difference. Play leaders like Fran play such a vital role in supporting children through what can be a frightening and unfamiliar experience. Their ability to reduce anxiety, provide comfort, and use play as a therapeutic tool has a powerful impact on a child’s overall care and emotional wellbeing — and we’re incredibly lucky to have them as part of our team.

We’ll be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to everyone involved in your daughter’s care. It truly means a lot to the team to know their efforts made a difference.

Wishing your daughter all the best in her recovery.

Kind regards,

Jess
