"Lisburn district nurses"

My story is about Lisburn district nurses and how they helped me. I had skin cancer surgery on my back and under my armpit because the cancer spread from my back to my armpit. A couple of weeks later i broke my ankle, so in a period of 2 to 3 weeks i had 2 major surgery's. The nurses were fantastic.

I've got a vacuum pump for my armpit wound. The pump stopped working and i had a week before my appointment at the Ulster hospital to get the pump changed. A wonderful nurse Claire's help was invaluable to me. I had to get dressing s where the pump tube went into the wound. In the space of 3 or 5 hours the dressings wood be soaked from the fluid from the wound.

Claire arrived on Sunday, i thought it was going to be more dressings that would be soaked with the fluids, but in fact she had looked through the stores and found the items that would get the pump working again. I was elated, no more saturated dressings i asked Claire what kind of chocolates she liked, she said you don't need to get me anything. She also kept an eye on me broken ankle, the wounds were the surgeon put the rod in weren't covered so Claire put little dressings on for me. So that's my story, it's really about Claire who lifted me out of a bad place when i was down, an excellent nurse.
