Hi
Going into this procedure I was explained fully on what was about to be done, An appointment with the surgeon, his surgical nurse and my wife was held to discuss the procedure which was very educating and helpful and obviously a bit concerning.
After a 5 hour operation I awoke to quite some discomfort which I totally expected. On arriving back to the ward I must admit I was hit by shock and the worry of how I was looking and what was ahead.
After 3 days of resting and registering what had just happened my shock disappeared and my worry subsided.
Whilst concentrating on my recovery and doing what the ward nursing staff/dietician's/doctors, family and friends told me, who I have too add were all fantastic , My thoughts of how I looked completely changed to a positive note.
Now 3 weeks after the operation, I am happy to say that my stitches are out and my scarring is healing up nicely. Just looking forward to the swelling and numbness disappearing, which I know will take quite some time.
For all like me, that unfortunately have to go through this procedure, all I can say is that you are in great hands at the ARI and wish you all the best in the future.
I would also like to say a Massive Thanks to Mr McDonald, Dave and everyone (Nursing Staff/Catering Staff/Cleaning Staff and beyond) that work in Ward 210, Level 5-ARI and Maxifacial Out-Patients Clinic-ARI a Massive Thanks to you all.
Kind Regards
