Attended for a biopsy and was cared for by HCSW Molly who was a credit to the NHS- she made an anxious, painful time relaxing and was warm and welcoming throughout! All staff amazing throughout and I wish to express my thanks to them all!
However, I was told my results were being expedited and I would hear within 7-10 days , it has now been 4 weeks exactly and I have not only had post operative complications (no fault of surgeon) but continue to have ongoing anxiety regarding my results and the wait time I have experienced.
No call to advise that wait times may be longer and possible reasons why to ease my anxiety, just left getting more and more stressed with my mind catastrophising and feeling my life is in limbo.
The lovely medical secretary has been the one answering my calls and made attempts to reassure me, advising the consultant that I am anxious but again no call.
What was a great experience in a clean, professional ward with amazing staff has been overridden by severe anxiety, resulting in 4 weeks of work with post operative pain and increased anxiety.
Going forward it may be beneficial to be more honest and open regarding wait times and possible delays to avoid increasing anxiety with during an already anxious time.
