My Mum was brought into A n E via ambulance after suffering a fall during the night where she had taken herself back to bed to then report it to care staff in the morning.
Due to an Inability to mobilise and obvious pain she was taken to hospital.
I felt very supported by paramedics and care staff where she lives but I was also very worried as was Mum. She arrived at New Cross Wolverhampton and was treated very well by all staff and made to feel comfortable. The team on C 12 Frailty were absolutely amazing. They were so patient and supportive and caring. Mum was fed and watered and very well cared for.
Staff were approachable and kind and nothing was too much trouble. It felt comfortable being in there with Mum and she wasn’t anxious due to this friendly rapport with all staff.
Mum felt confident speaking to staff and all staff were absolutely brilliant with her.
I also had a staff member assist me with the wheelchair taking Mum to the car. These staff regardless of what colour uniform they wear are the backbone of this hospital and should be used as a fine example for other staff to follow.
Staff who do not judge, who have the time to care and it’s not feeling like peacework. Mum wasn’t just a number she was a patient and and was made to feel special and comfortable.
The discharge letter was done swiftly and both Mum and I were kept up to date with all what was happening and how long it was likely to take. Food was available and drinks and nothing was too much trouble.
A massive thank you to the team for today.
"They were so patient and supportive and caring"
