"Integrated Community support Team east kilbride"

About: ICST (Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) / ICST (Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) East Kilbride University Hospital Hairmyres / Acute Stroke Unit (Ward 6)

(as a service user),

I was in Hairmyres Hospital, due to not being able to weight-bear on my left leg. Previously  I had a stroke on my left side, I also have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

I was in Hairmyres hospital for nineteen days without getting out of my bed, nurses would ask if I were to get out of bed and the answer was no, I was to stay in bed. After four or five days, a physio came to see me. They tried to het me up to stand, but I was very stiff due to being in bed. Physio said they would try the next day. Next day came only to be told they were arranging a care package for me at home. They would arrange a hospital bed to be delivered to my home. My wife had to arrange to get rid of our double bed and get herself a single bed. If it wasn't for my daughter and her boyfriend, she would not have managed.

I have to thank Jennifer and Errin for all their help to help me get on my feet. Jennifer has brought things for my hands to strengthen them, also putty to exercise my hands, they are both working hard to help me.
