"My daughter & support for me"

About: Parent Support Link

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I was referred to PSL by a doctor who’s also a good friend of mine. When I came to them, I was at my breaking point. My daughter was facing the possibility of going to prison. The crimes started because of her heroin addiction, and she was also involved in prostitution. I felt completely overwhelmed and scared, I didn’t know where to turn or what to do.

The fear of losing my daughter, of waking up every day dreading a phone call telling me she was dead, was unbearable. I felt isolated and helpless.

The support I received from PSL changed everything. They listened, they understood, and they helped me find the right people to support my daughter, from legal advice to recovery services. They also helped me manage my own stress and keep going.

Thanks to the support, my daughter was able to get help and didn’t go to prison. The court heard great reports about her progress, and now she’s been clean for 14 months. Of course, times can still be tough, but the difference between living in constant dread and waking up without that fear is incredible. It feels like a blessing, like I can finally breathe again.
