"Kindness and care"

About: St John's Hospital / Day Surgery Unit

(as a service user),

I was admitted to the day surgery centre for removal of basal cell carcinoma and was extremely nervous I had travelled quite a distance so was feeling sick.  The reception staff and the nurses were so so kind and reassured me. I was first up to theatre at 9 am.

I was taken to a side room all my health details gone over then met my plastic surgeon Mr Anderson. He was extremely kind and punctual as waiting is terrible.  I was taken at 9 am sharp and a nurse held my hand all through the procedure.

It was all removed and the surgeon said how brave I was as some of it was painful.  I was in the recovery room then wheeled back to the ward and had 2 cups of the best tea and a lovely sandwich.

I cannot praise all the staff and the surgeon for the kindness and care I received as I was an extremely nervous patient.
