"There is professionalism mixed with appropriate humour"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Urology (Bladder and Urinary problems) Ninewells Hospital / Urology Oncology Specialist Nurse Teams / Uro-Oncology Specialist Nurse Service

(as the patient),

I have received excellent care throughout my cancer `journey`

Thanks are due  in particular to all those individuals in the Urology Department, and in particular to  the well organised and thorough team of Urology Nurses who are professional, punctual, matter of fact but compassionate and who take time to read notes, listen to the patient, remember names, think laterally, know about the resources available and who  at all times  demonstrate that they are in command of their job and the service that they deliver.

There is professionalism mixed with appropriate humour in everything they do as well as humility and candor.

In my case it was not possible to deliver surgery at Ninewells Hospital and so my case was seemlessly handed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where I underwent the RALP proceedure.

In two action packed days I was in and out of the UCAN unit at ARI and my case was referred back to Ninewells Hospital where I have received good after care and follow up consultations on a regular basis as I regain my health and body functions.

I really am appreciative of the NHS and what it has done for me.

Thank you.

Dear Alexanderin233

many thanks for your positive feedback about your journey. We are very grateful that you have taken time to share your experience as it can be a difficult, challenging time from diagnosis to recovering from surgery. It involves lots of people from different disciplines and working together is very important to ensure that your journey is seamless. I am delighted that you reflect this in your experience.

I will ensure that this is shared with the team

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, appreciating this may have been an uncertain time for you. I am glad to read across both NHS Grampian and Tayside you have received timely, patient centred care. Your experience provides an excellent example of the close working relationships between our areas to try and reduce any delays for patient care whenever possible.

I wish you all the best with your continued recovery and will share your feedback with our Urology team in both UCAN and the ward.
