"Just exceptional care from exceptional people."

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Breathing and lung problems (Respiratory Wards 7a, 7b, 7c & 7d) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Initial Assessment Unit

(as a relative),

In May 2025, my husband was again admitted to the QE, this was his 7th admission over 10mths with UTI and chest infections. from point of entry at IAU to his final ward admission to 7A, as per our previous experiences, the attention and care my husband, and myself received, could not be faulted. Sarah and her team in IAU, especially a nurse called "Michael" were super efficient getting my husband settled. He was then moved to ARU5, where Scott and the team looked after him really well, Jacqui, one of the auxiliary staff was just terrific, looking after my needs too. Our final ward, 7A, CANNOT and COULD not be faulted. Alice, her depute Yvonne and the whole team, from catering staff, auxiliary staff, right up the chain exemplified the "best you can get" experience. My husband sadly passed, though to go through this experience with people who truly, genuinely cared made my situation a little lighter to carry. I will never be able to thank all at the QE enough for everything each and every unit did across the last ten months for my husband and owe such a huge debt to Alice and her team on 7A, god bless each and everyone of you at QE - just exceptional care from exceptional people.

Dear Grateful Wife 2023,

We are truly sorry to hear about your husband's ongoing health challenges and eventual passing. It’s clear that the last ten months have been incredibly difficult, and yet, through it all, your appreciation for the care and compassion shown by the teams at QE shines through.

It’s heartening to know that the IAU team were able to offer such prompt, professional, and reassuring support during a time that must have been filled with worry and uncertainty.

Please accept our sincerest condolences. We hope that the memory of the care you received brings you even a small measure of comfort during this time of loss. Your gratitude is a powerful reminder of the difference that compassion in healthcare can make.

Sarah Logan - Senior Charge Nurse (IAU)
