I was admitted to ward 44 feeling generally under weather and in a lot of pain. When I was first admitted into the ward the first thing i noticed was how welcoming all the staff were.
Once I was placed in my own room, my nurse (Chloe) introduced herself and made me feel very welcome. My HCSW Amy was so attentive and always made sure I had everything I needed. I was then told some devastating news that I would need surgery for a stoma and was really upset and shaken by this as it was very unexpected.
All the girls on the ward (Emma, Carly, Jen) re assured me that I would be okay and that they were here to support me on this journey. After my op my confidence was low as I felt I would never be able to look after my own stoma.
After only a few changes with the stoma nurses I was left to try this by myself which was very daunting however the guidance and support the nurses gave me was fantastic and i got over my fear in no time. Not only were the nursing staff great but Carol who works on the ward always made sure my menus were completed and Graham the cleaner does an outstanding job.
I could not fault my stay in this ward and I hope everyones hard work does not go unnoticed. I would like to say I will never be back in the ward but at least I know if i am that I will be well looked after.
Well done everyone in 44.
