To the Wonderful Midwives and Care Staff at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow,
I want to express my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary care, compassion, and professionalism shown to me and my family during one of the most important and emotional moments of our lives.
To the incredible midwives and healthcare assistants—Anna and Anna Mareja, Jaime and the rest of the team in the labour ward; Heather, Julie, Ellen, Laura and Pam in the post natal ward and Emma in maternity assessment, thank you for your unwavering support, calm reassurance and gentle strength. Each of you brought something unique and invaluable to our experience, and your kindness made all the difference. Whether it was a comforting word, a listening ear, or expert hands guiding us through each stage, you made us feel safe, respected, and truly cared for. Thank you for laughing at all my rubbish, nervous jokes and puns!
In particular, I want to thank the labour ward staff on the birthday for helping me excavate my wedding ring from the bottom of a bin bag. The entire team in the ward were helping me to remain calm for my own sanity whilst looking for my ring everywhere. You all simultaneously saved my marriage and made me a very proud father all at once.
To the doctors, Sarah and Eilidh and Beth, thank you for your exceptional care, clarity, and compassion. Your expertise and empathy shone through in every moment, and we always felt we were in the very best hands. Your calm and confident presence was a steadying force, and it gave us immense reassurance throughout our journey.
Each of you-as well as all the rest of the teams-left an unforgettable impression on us, not only through your skill and professionalism but through the warmth, enthusiasm and dedication you brought to your roles. We will never forget the care we received under your watch, and we feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have had such an amazing team by our side.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are a credit to your profession and to the entire NHS in Scotland.
With love and lifelong gratitude,
"The experience we had during the birth and care of our son"
