About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiotherapy General Practices in Grampian Woodend Hospital / Radiology

(as the patient),

I want to write to offer my grateful thanks and appreciation to all the staff I met on my journey whilst receiving treatment for cervical cancer in 2024.

I presented to my medical practice in Stonehaven in May 2024 and was dealt with very promptly - referred for a scan and then colposcopy within 2/3 weeks. All the staff ,from the domestic ,portering  and theatre staff to the nursing ,medical and radiography staff have been so kind and professional. The nursing staff at the Day Chemotherapy Clinic were so good to me (and the other patients!),my treatment was on time ,a very efficient team. I had to have radiotherapy also and the staff there were superb, so patient with me and my problematic bladder!! Thank You Carolyn and the radiography team!  Special mention to Lisa who looked after me so well while I was having my brachytherapy, don't know what I would have done without her! I also had a wonderful Clinical Nurse Specialist - Louise, who was there for any questions and concerns I had. I would also like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere gratitude to Dr MacDonald who explained the situation to myself and husband so clearly and informed us of the treatment plan I would follow, it was very reassuring for the both of us.  I feel very fortunate to have been able to access this level of care and I just wanted to show my appreciation and thanks for all the NHS staff who have been involved with my care.
