"Amazing personal care and support"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Paediatric Day Patient Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

My little boy had to go in today mid June 2025 for a day op to correct his broken arm. Since we were greeted from Rebekah we felt so welcomed and she really got to know us.

I explained my little boy had a fear of doctors and she talked me through best options to make him more settle and comfortable. She spent time talking to him and discussing his hobbies etc. Down at theatre when I had to take him down she waited outside for me to check I was also OK also as its upsetting seeing your child being put to sleep.

We then had Chloe I think from recover and she was brilliant also taking time talking and making us feeling so comfortable and putting us at ease answer all questions etc.

When we came back these both nurses spent time doing his checks and chatting away, my little boy actually said today he isn't scared of hospitals or doctors and I believe this is all down to nhs staff and they way we were treated.

When I was younger I never remember staff in the hospitals that really went above and beyond to get to know you and go the extra mile making their patients feel special and not just another number. We meet alot of nurses and doctors today and all were amazing but unfortunately I can't remember all their names.

Thank you all so much, I have a happy boy and he was not distressed at all, I had bad dreams about this all week for nothing.

The staff really do deserve the praise and recognition of how thankful I am.

Jamielghr941,

Thank you for taking the time to post your lovely review of our services. Coming for surgery is a daunting experience and I am glad that the team helped to make it easier for both you and your son.

It is always nice for the staff to have their hard work recognised and for them to know they have made a different and helped to ensure your son was at ease during his time here.

I will pass your compliments on to the team and I hope your son makes a good recovery,

Cathy

Hi Jamielghr941

Thank you for this wonderful review of our service.

Often the lead up to coming in to hospital causes worry and concern and I'm delighted to hear that all of your concerns were alleviated by our fabulous nursing staff. I will ensure Rebekah, Chloe and the whole nursing team see your feedback as this is what drives us to do what we do, to make every child's stay in hospital as positive as it possibly can be.

I'm so pleased that your son is no longer scared of hospitals and doctors, and that we had such a positive impact on him.

Thank you for your praise and recognition of our team, it really means everything to us.

I hope your son is recovering well following his surgery.

Best wishes

Emma
