"Indignity"

About: Conisbrough Group Practice

I have had several messages regarding my smear and finally booked to get it out of the way. I wasn't looking forward to having the procedure but know it's necessary. Upon arrival everything was fine and I checked in, the nurse called me in and I expressed that I wasn't looking forward to having the smear done but knew it was needed. I was then asked if I was still having periods? I had a hysterectomy November 2023 and surely this was on the system so was a totally unnecessary question. Although the nurse was lovely I must add. I had the procedure done and discussed a couple of issues I had and then made my way out of the building. I had no sooner got to the door and my phone rang. It was the nurse apologising that Although I had been called by the practice to make the appointment I wasn't actually due a smear until September and the swabs couldn't be sent as the lab would disregard them with me not being due until September. So basically I had the indignity of having a procedure done that wasn't necessary and have to go through it all again in a few months time.
