"Hospital visit post hip dislocation"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Trauma and orthopaedics South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I had just arrived at the caravan site after doing my first long drive and then the caravan step overbalanced as I was going into the caravan, resulting in me falling and dislocating my hip.

Apart from a long wait for an ambulance and then chaotic scenes with so many ambulances and crew being involved with patients at Treliske, the care I received from all the staff was wonderful in such dreadful circumstances.

I was very cross to probably be one of many careless holidaymakers taking up a hospital bed and staff time, but everyone’s care and dedication was wonderful. Apart from having to leave hospital in an operating gown and then encountering transport issues to get back to the caravan, I appreciated everyone’s care.

Occupational therapist Tom and nurse Chloe were particularly kind and caring. Thank you everyone.

I work in the Emergency Department as a Sister. I support a team of nurses and doctors in delivering emergency care. I co-manage performance and conduct with the ED senior team in line with local and national policies. I believe that maintaining contact post attendance with our services users is really beneficial. Gaining your valuable feedback can help us create changes so we can deliver the best service we can.

Dear Rowland

I hope you have managed to recover well and enjoy the rest of your time in Cornwall.
