I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional care my mother received at the Royal Alexandra Hospital when she was referred to Medical Unit A with a suspected DVT.
From the moment we arrived, we were met with kindness and professionalism. The receptionist welcomed us warmly and guided us to the waiting area, taking the time to explain that the unit was particularly busy that day. Despite the pressures on the team, every member of staff we encountered treated my mother with compassion and respect.
Nurse Lauren carried out her initial assessment with great care and sensitivity, making my mother feel at ease. Shortly afterward, two very kind healthcare support workers took her bloods and ECG, again demonstrating a high level of professionalism and empathy.
Although we experienced a long wait to see the medical team, it was clear that the staff were doing their utmost under challenging circumstances. A particularly thoughtful gesture was the nursing staff offering tea, coffee, or water to everyone in the waiting area—each person was approached individually, and the kindness shown did not go unnoticed.
When Dr. Tannahill came to assess my mother, she took the time to explain everything clearly and compassionately. She reviewed the test results, thankfully ruled out a DVT, discussed a treatment plan, and provided a letter for our GP. Despite being on call and managing a busy unit, Dr. Tannahill never made us feel rushed and delivered truly person-centred care.
Please extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in my mother’s care. Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion made a difficult day much easier for both of us.
"Excellent care"
