About: Fife Community Services / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

After a GP referral I was contacted by the RCDS team at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. The staff were extremely friendly and professional in their manner and kept me fully informed at all times.  The RCDS is an impressive service, the speed is incredible.  I was quickly given blood tests and an appointment for a CT Scan.  This was all done without any fuss and I soon had my results.  All my questions were answered in full and I was told I can contact the service in the future should I have any further questions.

It is encouraging to hear that the process felt smooth and efficient for you, and that your questions were answered fully. That sense of transparency and calmness is not accidental it comes from thoughtful team working, and a culture that values clear communication and person-centred care.

What you’ve described, being informed at each stage, treated with kindness, and left with a sense of confidence is not just good practice; it’s the foundation of safety. When patients feel listened to, they are more able to voice concerns, spot issues, and remain active partners in their care.
