"Big thanks for the encouragement"

About: Quit your Way / Quit your way (community)

(as a service user),

6 years ago I was diagnosed with COPD, I am also asthmatic but I had it under control.

This prompted me to stop smoking and I was taking the 3 month course of champix and I was successful in stopping smoking. But after quitting for 4 years, I foolishly started again!  And after one year of smoking I decided to do something about it, so I contacted the smoking cessation at Clydebank Health Centre, and an appointment was made for me to attend.

My first appointment was with Louise, and I immediately felt at ease with her. She explained how it worked, and asked why I wanted to stop, I explained about my copd, and I really wanted to quit for good.

I got the smoking patches, and my second appointment with Loiuse was great, no traces of carbon monoxide when I blew into the device, it read 1 ( the first time was 5 ). I continued my weekly appointments with Louise, she praised me for stopping at each visit and she made me feel good within myself. Every visit the carbon monoxide levels were at 1, and that also gave me the determination to never smoke .

Louise was great, I enjoyed our wee chats too. She gave me encouragement with telling me how much better my health will be, how my skin will look better, and more importantly how my breathing will improve.

I have completed the 12 week course, and I feel great physically, I can even run up the stairs without getting breathless.

So I want to say a big thanks to Louise for her encouragement each visit.

Dear 'Loveheart'

Thanks so much for sharing your inspirational story. Your breathing sounds much improved - running up the stairs today - who knows what else you will achieve now you are smoke free!

It's really common to relapse and that's why it's so important to get all the specialist advice and support that you need. Quit Your Way offers intensive support and of course we help you to access free NRT products and other treatments.

Louise is a really experienced advisor and it's so lovely to hear how much you have enjoyed working with her on your quit journey. I will certainly inform her manager and I will reach out to her to congratulate her on providing such wonderful support to you.

Best wishes for a smokefree future

Lisa
