I felt so nervous before my first session, fear of the unknown, but I was made to feel at ease straight away by the NHS staff running the course. I am finding it particularly hard to accept that I have an illness that severely impacts my day to day activities and having the group sessions made me realise I am not alone in that feeling and I was given some advice on how to try and accept that my life was this way now. I can't make it go away, but I have to face it head on and try and manage it and listen to my body and hopefully make symptoms a little easier to live with.
I really enjoyed the talk at the class, as I have learnt so much, especially that I don't exercise enough and the different breathing techniques. It was great to have medical professionals there with their knowledge but I also found it really good to sit with other people who also have lung diseases, so we could share our stories and worries that we have.
From my personal point of view, I found it quite tiring attending twice a week as at the moment I work full time, but I managed to attend all my sessions, but I was ready for it ending after the 6 weeks. If I was retired or working reduced hours (which I'm hoping to do in the next few weeks) this would not have been a negative.
Thanks for all your work xxxx
