I attended a&e after being seen by a PRU at home regarding chest pain. While I was waiting in the medical assessment unit the pain in my chest increased suddenly and after notifying staff i was taken into a cubicle for further examination. It was then discovered that I was actually having a heart attack. I was rushed along to resus where a brilliant team from clinical support to doctors acted very quickly to stabilise myself. I was then Very quickly moved upstairs to theatre where a team were waiting to put stent's into my heart.
The extreme pain i was in was nothing I had ever felt before but the skill of the consultant and there team not only put the pain at ease but also my very scared self!
After the stent's were fitted, i was moved across to the CCU where I was put in the care of the amazing staff that night. My sister and my partner had been waiting in the family room while I was in theatre where the charge nurse Stephen had comforted them, made them tea, explained everything that was happening and totally put them at ease as it was very scary for them, he put their minds at rest and reassured them.
Once I had returned to the CCU Stephen came over, introduced himself as the one who would be looking after me and said anything I need just ask. He answered my questions, reassured me and made me comfortable. I couldn't have been in better care. Not long after the consultant who carried out the procedure came and spoke to myself and my family and explained everything. This was also very reassuring and calming. During my first night in CCU Stephen and nurse Shirley were very attentive and nothing was a bother, constantly checking on me and asking if I was ok or needed anything.
The next day (Friday), Shirley had asked if I would like to be moved to a private room, which I really appreciated, from all the day staff to the night staff, especially Stephen and Shirley, the care and compassion shown was excellent, above and beyond,, they are a credit to the CCU, my family have even commented on how fantastic all the staff have been on the ward and about the exceptional treatment I have received.
I would just like to thank all the staff at the CCU haremyrers hospital, especially Stephen and Shirley for the absolutely amazing care and compassion I have received. I was recently discharged, and as odd as it sounds I'm actually a bit sad to have left such a fantastic team, my stay here has been made so comfortable and warm.
Many thanks to you all
