"Overall it was lovely to be looked after for a wee while"

About: St John's Hospital / General Medicine St John's Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit

(as a service user),

Transferred to ward 9 from MAU. (MAU was also good!)

Staff were very helpful and pleasant, particularly Amy, Matthew, Stefan. They spent time talking to everyone in the bay and making everyone feel cared for.

All the nurses were very nice, but I can’t remember all their names! They were all encouraging and did their best to meet my complex needs. Rachel went and found some batteries for the tv remote control! The staff all worked well as a team, and were constantly working.

Meals could have been better. One criticism is the discharge procedure - when told I was going home, it was over 7 hours before I could leave (waiting for medications). Overall it was lovely to be looked after for a wee while - thank you!

Dear Tony634,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story on Care Opinion. I was pleased to hear you had such a positive experience and the care you received from staff was personalised and able to meet your needs.

I am sorry to hear about the length of time you had to wait for medication before being discharged. I apologise for any frustration this may have caused.

Your story has been passed along to the service so they can recognise what went well and if there is any learning that can be applied to the discharge process.

I wish you all the best,

Kind regards,

Mariska
