"Nothing short of excellence from start to finish"

About: Outpatients Centre / Orthotics Department

(as the patient),

I have Polio to my right leg and wear a knee to foot splint. After nearly 20 years with the same splint it eventually gave up the ghost and needed replacing, probably not realising that over the 20 years of use my leg has actually changed in small ways. With an appointment made I toddled along to the Orthotics department we’re upon greeted by an orthotist who was extremely helpful and began to cast for my new splint. 3 weeks later my splint had arrived and fitted which seemed initially to fit well. The Orthotist disposed of my old splint and off I went.

After 2 to 3 days the splint became unwearable and another appointment made to re- assess where the fault lay, at this time I was introduced to the head Orthotist who as it turned out was the very same person whom I’d met more than 20 years ago. He went above and beyond to find out where the issues were, after six recasts it was all to clear that this department were not going to leave this issue unresolved. I am more than grateful to the whole Orthotics department for there overwhelming desire to make sure the level of service to me was nothing short of excellence from start to finish.

Many thanks
