I just wanted to write a story about receiving psychological therapy from NHS psychological therapies team in hamilton.
My therapist immediately made me feel at ease and I felt as if I could open up to them and talk about my issues to them. I find this important as I may have been unable to tell them what was making ne feel the way I was feeling. My therapist helped me meet 3 goals we set together as outcomes for my sessions. These things were around things that were causing me pain and mental anguish. My past traumas were also discussed and the therapist helped me look at what happened to me in a different way. I now feel that my past trauma can be put to rest. The therapist stopped me binge eating and using unhealthy coping mechanisms and I was sent to a group session called calm distress which helped me manage my emotions and gave me techniques to manage my triggers of past traumas. Finally it was discussed that I may have autistic traits this has made so much sense to me, and I now know why parts of my childhood were the way they were and looking back it has made me realise why certain things has happened in my life.I would recommend anyone who has mental health issues who is offered this service to take it up as its changed the way I have been living my life and has given me a new lease of life.
