"Dealing with my wife's long term illness"

About: St Johns Hospice / St John’s counselling

(as a carer),

My wife had been ill with a long term neurological condition for over 14 years when I was referred to the counselling service. Last Christmas was the worst time of my life as she was in hospital for 14 days and I spent many hours on my own with my wife. There were times when I didn't think I could go on as the whole situation was becoming impossible to deal with, almost no help from her family and paid help with 2 personal assistants.

I was referred to Delton who helped me through the last year of my wife's life, she died in May this year. He was understanding, compassionate and non-judgemental and I felt able to tell him things that I could not tell anyone else. Thank you Delton.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback regarding your counselling experience. I am so pleased that you found the counselling to be so beneficial at what must have been the most difficult time of your life. It was a positive step that you were referred into the counselling service and how being able to talk to Delton about your innermost feelings helped you get though this extremely difficult time in your life. I will pass your comments onto Delton, and once again thank you so much for your feedback.

Take care
