I think the wait times are ridiculous and there is no information on how long you should expect to wait. One person after waiting 5 hours approached the desk and was told he could make a minor injury appointment the next day. Why are options like this not given at check in?
The staff are pleasant but talk far too loudly about patient’s information and their computer screen needs a privacy filter, patient information is clearly visible from the waiting area and at least 2 people while I was there zoomed in on it with their phones to read what was on the screen. Also, every person that approached asking for information was told the same thing they next to be seen and the entire room can hear this. It’s not helpful.
The waiting area is miserable. It’s dirty, uncomfortable, and outdated. The vending machines don’t accept cards and the same elevator music with prerecorded messages plays on repeat. Everyone can accept the limitations of the NHS but no one is here because they want to be, is it difficult to make the wait a bit more comfortable? We’ve been told since Covid how important hygiene standards are and this place is filthy. People coughing and spitting on the floor, the staff I saw watch them but didn’t even offer a sick bowl never mind clean it up. The standard of the place is appalling and a few colourful signs aren’t going to fix it. I might be over simplifying things but it would not take much to make the whole experience a little bit better for anyone unfortunate enough to have to use the service.
