"I felt heard during the process"

I could not have had a better experience during my recent colonoscopy at UHND. Both the consultant and the nurses I saw were excellent - explaining everything clearly and also listening and being responsive to the patient. They seemed surprised when I expressed a wish to undergo the procedure without either sedation or gas and air, but the consultant was very supportive in enabling me to see these choices through. The result was a virtually painless procedure. There was just one moment where deep breathing was required to manage the pain as the scope passed round the sigmoid but she talked me through yoga breathing and it was over in a moment. The rest was pain free. Delighted to be given a clean bill of health but also that I felt heard during the process. Many thanks!
