"If I could give out a medal it would be Platinum"

About: Outpatients Department / Fracture Clinic University Hospital Monklands / Outpatient Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

In September of last year I broke my wrist abroad - it was a bad break which has taken all of this time to get to a point where life is almost normal !

From the moment I saw a UK Dr, Debbie from Hand Therapy has been by my side- supported through casts and plate insertion and removals. Going above and beyond to ensure that my care has been second to none. From a Hand Therapy view she has been instrumental in getting me back as much flexibility as I can - lots of comfort / guidance / ideas to improve as well as a few well deserved telling offs when I was perhaps cheating at little at the exercises. Her manner and level of interest makes you feel like an individual not a number . This is so key when you are faced with a situation which has a huge impact on your day to day life. Debbie made the appointments less intimidating and always gave positive encouragement when progress was made.

Appointment frequency was sometimes impacted by the huge demand the team faces but when they happened it was worth any wait. I cannot thank Debbie enough and will always appreciate her care and interest in my recovery. If I could give out a medal it would be Platinum- Gold is not enough - what a star 🌟

Thank you 🙏

Dear M2429,

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It’s wonderful to hear how far you’ve come since your injury, and the dedication and resilience you’ve shown is admirable.

It’s lovely to read about Debbie’s role in your recovery. As her manager, I can confirm she is a highly skilled and dedicated hand therapist. Her compassion, dedication, and commitment to her patients are at the heart of her practice. The balance she strikes between encouragement and gentle firm reminders is something we greatly value, as it really helps patients stay motivated and achieve the best possible outcomes. We are proud to have her on our team, and it’s wonderful to hear how much of a positive impact she’s had on your recovery.

Your words are a testament to the importance of person-centred care, and I’m sure Debbie will be deeply touched by your appreciation. I will be sure to pass on your kind words.

Wishing you continued success with your ongoing recovery.

Kindest Regards

Alison

Dear M2429,

Thank you for sharing your experience in the fracture clinic.

I am sorry to hear about your injury on holiday. What a worrying time this must have been for you. I am so glad that the care you have received since returning to the UK has been excellent. I will ensure your kind words are passed on to the fracture clinic team.

I hope you are much better now.

Best Wishes,
