After sitting with an ill parent for 15 hours in A&E with no sleep. As directed by other staff (the doctor), I was told to enter the A&E radiology room.
There was 3 staff - 1 was busy in the background, one was standing, and the other was in the chair at the computer. There was a clear surroundings around the work station and there was information posters covering my eye height to talk with staff.
The staff member that was standing asked me if I was ok, I went to the doorway to see and hear them properly and so I continued to pass on my relative's information and request from the doctor and the member of staff in the seat started pointing and abruptly telling me to get away from the door and pointing to where I was supposed to stand, where I couldn’t see them properly, and then persisted to say I was looking at patient’s confidential information. I wasn’t in the room where they were, I was standing at the door where I could see and hear the staff member.
The way I was spoke to was so disrespectful and not needed. After 15 hours overnight in A&e with a sick relative, I wasn’t looking for other patients' details. It was more spatial awareness and effective communication. I stood at the opening of the door to talk.
Absolutely appalling behaviour. Where is the trust's core values being promoted by this staff member?
Absolutely horrendous experience.
"Abrupt manner from staff member"
